Calling all Seattle actors! Come audition to be part of a thrilling creative process building new theater works with the stories of community members. Questions? Email .

One Forbidden Thing is a community-based, devised theater process that asks provocative questions about the places that feel unsafe, restricted, or otherwise “forbidden.” Company members will work directly with community members to investigate this topic and with director Melanie St. Ours to create exciting site-specific theater that responds to and incorporates the communities’ voices.

Auditions are being held for devising company members. The devising company will work together from September-November to investigate the topic with the community and create original theater based upon what we discover.

Rehearsals will be held 2-4 times per week. Devising company members will also spend minimal time supporting the project in other ways (marketing, fund-raising, community relations, etc) not to exceed one hour per week.

There may or may not be public performance opportunities for the devising company between September and December 1st. We will decide that together based upon how the work is progressing. Actors who participate in the devising process will be first in line for roles in the performances to take place later in the year.

Casting actors of all genders over 18 years of age years old for the devising company of One Forbidden Thing. Actors of all ages (over 18), physical types, and racial/ethnic background are encouraged to audition.

Seeking actors who:

~Work well collaboratively and have an ensemble mindset

~Have strong improvisational skills

~Have strong physicality and/or movement skills; dance/gymnastics/stunt background is a plus

~Are excited about the project and ready to contribute their own ideas and talent to the process
